“Friday Night Lights” ends its Fall run on Wednesday, December 16 and will be back January 6 next year with the episode “The Toilet Bowl”. Apt to its title, a toilet bowl complete with the tissue papers is literally placed in the middle of the court.
A scoop about the show was recently given via EW about where the fifth and final season will pick up from. Exec Producer Jason Katims said, “Typically, we would start closer to the next school year because we generally sort of follow the football season. But we haven’t really made a [a final decision]. What’s nice about the show is we’ve made slightly different choices from season to season, like coming back with the first game or coming back in the middle of summer. We’ve done a couple of radical time cuts over the course of the series.”
On another news, the sports drama receives a nomination from Writers Guild Awards for Best Drama. It has to battle for the title with “Breaking Bad“, “Dexter“, “Lost” and “Mad Men“. Winners will be unveiled on January 11.

While NBC viewers need to wait until the summer of 2010 for new episodes of Friday Night Lights, DIRECTV subscribers can start to get excited about season four of this acclaimed series.
It kicks off on October 28.
According to one newly released promo for the drama, one town will change forever over the next few months, as Coach Eric Taylor takes his passion and intensity to East Dillon High School.
“This season opener is practically a pilot in itself. It puts Coach Taylor at the center of the action in a new school, with a new team, and many new challenges,” said executive producer Jason Katims. “In addition to the returning cast, we are introducing a host of new characters who will become integral to the fourth and fifth season of the show.”

It doesn’t reveal any new scenes or spoilers, but anyone whose spine doesn’t tingle while viewing it must lack clear eyes and/or a full heart.
How do I love Friday Night Lights’ resplendent, Emmy-worthy leading lady (and Ausiello TV guest) Connie Britton? Let me count the ways…

2) She breaks major freakin’ news about FNL likely ending in 2011: “I think the intention is to do two more seasons and then that will be it.”
3) She says funny things that make me giggle. Like this: “I’m pretty sure in the next two seasons there’s a very strong possibility that Tami will have an affair with a student.”
4) She humors me when I offer her Emmy submission advice (and video evidence to back it up).
5) She breaks major freakin’ news about who will and won’t be back full time in season 4.
