Connie Britton (born 6 March 1968) is an American actress who is most well-known for her role as Sharon Gaines in Friday Night Lights starring opposite Billy Bob Thornton and as Nikki Faber on ABC’s Spin City from 1996-2000. Born Constance Womack in Boston, Massachusetts, she uses the name of her ex-husband, Britton, as her stage name. When she was 7 years old her family (mother Linda, father Allen and sister Cynthia) moved to Lynchburg, Virginia. Connie majored in Asian Studies at Dartmouth College (class of 1989). Upon graduation she moved to New York City, where she spent two years at the Neighborhood Playhouse studying with Sanford Meisner and two more years at off-Broadway theatres. She moved to Los Angeles after the success of “The Brothers McMullen”. In her free time, Britton, who resides in both New York and Los Angeles, enjoys hiking, yoga, and doing volunteer work. Most recently, she had a recurring role on 24, during its fifth season as Diane Huxley, the landlady of protagonist Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland).
