LOS ANGELES, California (KXAN) — The Emmy award winning television series, Friday Night Lights, helped jump start the careers of several young actors as well as the film career for the city of Austin.

Both seasons of Friday Night Lights (FNL) have been filmed in Austin, Pflugerville and Del Valle despite discussions at the close of the first season about a possible move to New Mexico or Arizona.  Representing roughly $33 million a year in revenue for the area in which its filmed, both states were aggressive in courting the production company following the state of Texas not paying all of the rebates they promised the show’s producers. The show remained in Austin, however, as a result of the state of Texas passing legislation to match the offers of other states and the production company having a preference to stay in the Austin area.

Jesse Plemons has been acting since childhood, but had his “big break” with FNL playing Landry Clarke, the best friend of the football star.  Fans of his are happy to see that he will be starring in the first episode on NBC’s new horror anthology series “Fear Itself”.

“I have a new respect for every actor that I’ve seen in a horror movie,” Plemons says of his strung-up situation in “The Sacrifice,” the first of the series’ 13 stand-alone episodes, premiering June 5 at 10 p.m..

Part of NBC’s push toward year-round original programming, “Fear Itself” is styled as a showcase for small films from more than a dozen genre writers, including Joe Gangemi, Steve Niles and Dan Knauf, and genre directors including Brad Anderson (”The Machinist”), Darren Bousman (”Saw II, III and IV) and Ronny Yu (”Bride of Chucky”).
